Capital Development Authority (CDA) will launch new sectors in the federal capital within a month to overcome housing unit shortage, besdies improving financial health of the civic body. Chairman CDA and Mayor of Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation Sheikh Ansar Aziz told reporters in a Meet-the-Press that the work on already launched incomplete sectors would also be expatiated.
The mayor was flanked by deputy mayors Zeeshan Naqvi and Chaudhry Riffat Javed. President National Press Club Shakil Anjum was also present.
He said Islamabad Building Control Authority (IBCA) would be establish for framing by-laws of the federal capital. IBCA would also cover rural areas of the federal capital including housing societies, he added.
He said new buildings and plazas in Islamabad and rural areas including housing societies would have to get approval from the IBCA before constructing building. He said the federal capital would be purged of the encroachments in phases in collaboration with trader organisations. Before initiating anti-encroachment drive, traders organisations would be taken into confidence, he said and added survey of F-6 sector has already been conducted to pinpoint the encroachments in the sector. A sum of Rs 10.25 million has already been released for improving water supply system in the federal capital, he said adding that the land acquisition process for laying Ghazi-Brotha pipeline to federal capital would be initiated soon.
He said public parks and play grounds of all sectors would be rehabilitated. Citizen committees would be constituted in each sector to monitor the rehabilitation process of parks and play grounds of their respective areas. Relevant chairman of respective Union council would head the sector committees.
He said CDA was finalising a plan to develop play grounds in rural areas of the federal capital.
He said waste management system of the federal capital's 50 union council would be out-sourced. The waste management contract would be awarded to a Solid Waste Management Company after transparent process.
