Transgender allegedly attacked in Peshawar

Transgender allegedly attacked and intimidated by armed men in three separate incidents in Peshawar on Sunday. Chairperson of the Trans-Gender Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ms Farzana told this scribe that first incident occurred in Chamkani area when the transgender were intimidated by armed persons for paying extortion. However no FIR registered in the case.
The second incident occurred in Pahari Pora area when armed men opened firing on them when they were coming to Bara Gat while attending a marriage ceremony.
After complain to local police station, an First Investigation Report (FIR) was registered, and one of the attackers was arrested by Pahari Pura police, while another managed to escape from the scene.
Similarly, the incident allegedly reported in Mathra area of Peshawar, when transgender was allegedly assaulted by forcing them to dance in a marriage ceremony of a male transgender.
She said that the police are under pressure from the local community to register an FIR as the local are against the transgender and they are openly teasing them during marriage parties.
