If you are not part of the solution, you must be part of problem. Could the US be a part of solution insofar as the ongoing Kashmir unrest is concerned? Yes it could. But the reality is that it is part of the problem because of its 'special' relationship with India. In other words, Washington seems to be supporting India's atrocities in Indian-held Kashmir.
According to media reports, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has told US Secretary of State John Kerry that more than 107 people have been assassinated in Indian Occupied Kashmir, thousands injured and worst human rights violations are being committed at the state level.
"I still remember President Clinton's promise that US will play its role to help out in resolving bilateral disputes and issues between Pakistan and India. I expect US administration and Secretary Kerry to use his good offices to help in resolving bilateral issues between Pakistan and India," the Prime Minister was quoted as saying. It is highly unlikely that the US administration would not turn a deaf ear to Pakistan's concerns and Kashmiris' plight.
