SC stays death sentence by military court

Admitting an appeal for hearing against death sentence awarded by the military court, the Supreme Court Wednesday stayed the execution and issued notices to parties of the case for last week of October. Military court had awarded death sentence to Muhammad Farrukh son of Hamid Ali Jutt of District Bhawalnager who challenged the verdict before the apex court through Shahzad Hussain Dhukar.
Appearing before a three member judge bench led by the Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, the lawyer said his client' original name was Muhammad Farrukh saying who allegedly had been apprehended from Qilla Saifullah Area of Balochistan and detained in Machh Jail of Balochistan.
Dhukar contended his client has been convicted as Jawad Farooq Afghani in a case of bank robbery and recovery of weapons and explosives. After a brief hearing of the matter, the bench halted execution of the death sentence in the matter till final adjudication of the case and summoned relevant record from Home Secretary Balochistan and Public Prosecution department. Hearing of the case was adjourned till last week of October.
