World Peace Day commemorated

A seminar was held at Social Welfare Complex in connection with the World Peace Day which was jointly arranged by Punjab Information & Culture and Social Welfare Departments. EDO Community Development Khalid Bashir presided over the seminar while Senior DO Social Welfare Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf, Deputy Director Public Relations Subhan Ali, Ex EDO (CD) Asif Tarar, Religious leader Pir Sadiqur Rehman, representative of NGO Dr Jaffar Hassan Mubarak, Muhammad Rehan, Mian Nadeem, officers of social welfare department, representative of NGOs and members of civil society were also participated in the seminar.
Addressing the seminar, EDO (CD) highlighted the significance and importance of the peace and said that durable socio economic development was not possible without maintaining the peace in the society. He said that the present government has taken a large number of steps to overcome the issues confronted to the peaceful atmosphere in the country. He said that National Action Plan had been devised with full consensus of the political parties to meet the challenges of terrorism in the country and positive results were being yielded by implementation of National Action Plan.
DO Social Welfare Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf said that World Peace Day reminds us to accelerate our efforts for maintaining the peace and promoting love and fraternity among the nation. He said that every citizen should extend cooperation with the law enforcement agencies for maintaining peace. Deputy Director Public Relations Subhan Ali said that the peace was imperative for the existence of the humanity and we should promote peace for the human development.
He mentioned the measures by the Punjab government for the implementation of National Action Plan and said that Punjab government took lead in establishment of Counter Terrorism Department. Ex DCO CD Asif Tarar, Dr Jaffar Hassan Mubarak, Muhammad Rehan and others also spoke on the occasion and said democratic leadership and military are on one page to completely eradicate the menace of terrorism from the Pakistan soil.
