Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday said that there is a vast potential of investment in energy sector and invited Saudi investors to grab the opportunity under any mode which include Built Operate and Transfer (BOT) or Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis. This, he said, while talking to Saudi Arabia's Consul General Mohammad Abdullah Abdul Daim who called on him at the Chief Minister House here to discuss investment opportunities and to invite him for their national day, said a press release issued here.
The Chief Minister said that the investors of Saudi Arabia have vast opportunities to invest in Sindh. "We have coal deposits to generate electricity and have vast wind and solar energy corridors where power generation plants could be installed within a year," he said and added that the investment of Saudi Arabia in Sindh would be blessings for the people of Sindh.
The Consul General said that he would take up this matter with the business community of Saudi Arabia. He also requested for a detailed investment opportunities catalogue so that the same could be discussed with investors. The Sindh Chief Minister issued necessary instructions in this regard.
The Consul General said that perhaps Karachi is the only city in the world which wakes up all the night. "Whenever you see people are moving here and there, restaurants remained open and busy with customers," he said and added "I love Karachi."The Chief Minister said that he is working to develop this city. "I am sure I would restore the glory of Karachi and make it City of Lights again," he said and added "it is possible because the people of this city love Karachi and trust him."
Murad Ali Shah took up the issue of Pakistanis stuck up in Saudi Arabia with the Consul General. He said that the Saudi government had constituted a committee to resolve the issue. "It would be settled within next few weeks," he said. He presented a copy of the Holy Quran to the Sindh Chief Minister while the Chief Minister presented Ajrak and memento of the Sindh Chief Minister to the guest.
