Around, 2000 Afghan families repatriated to their country, Afghanistan via Torkham border on Thursday. The United Nation High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) official in Torkham office said that 500 registered and 1500 un-registered families residing in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshehra etc under the supervision of UNHCR and Afghan Commissionrate repatriated to their native town somewhere in Afghanistan.
National flags of Pakistan and Afghanistan were hoisted on the vehicles loaded with Afghan repatriated families to highlight Pak-Afghan friendship while jointly heading towards Torkham border to cross to Afghanistan, administration official informed. For the purpose, he added special traffic arrangements had been done to avoid inconvenience on Pak-Afghan highway for the returning Afghan families. The repatriated Afghan families thanked the Pak government and the people of Pakistan for their long hospitality.
