Human Appeal International distributes over 4 metric tons of sacrificial meat

24 Sep, 2016

Human Appeal International (HAI) achieves the feat of distributing around four metric tons of sacrificial meat to 9,000 underprivileged families, living in the remote and most neglected areas of Pakistan. HAI made arrangements for the distribution of the meat at different places, including Tharparkar, Gadap Karachi, Rahim Yar Khan, Gilgit Baltistan, Mansehra, Bagh and Neelum Valley, Azad Kashmir.
The list of the beneficiaries of the project was finalised in light of a careful survey, conducted by the field staff of the organization. "Like always, we ensured to reach the people who were marginalized and badly malnourished due to poverty and neglect by concerned circles. Our beneficiaries included widows, disabled people, Kashmiri refugees and women headed families," disclosed Country Director of Human Appeal Nisar Ahmed, while sharing the details of the activity.
He also underlined that Human Appeal made it a point to be present in the border district of Tharparkar in the South on the one hand and Neelum Valley in Azad Kashmir in the North on the other. The people at these two places in particular need special attention on auspicious occasions, such as Eid, in view of persistent drought conditions and disconnection with the main land, respectively.
It needs to be recalled here that HAI is a UK based international non-governmental organisation, engaged in relief and development activities in more than 25 countries across the globe at the moment. It started off its activities in Pakistan in 2005 and its works areas include emergency response, education, livelihood, environment, health and seasonal programme. The organisation is currently running a unique project at Tharparkar to help local people fight against drought conditions by focusing on agriculture.-PR
