Mishal Malik, the wife of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front leader Yasin Malik in a press conference on Saturday said that her husband's condition was not stable. She asserted that the Indian Army had kept him in a narrow cubicle where he was denied access to medical treatment or drinking water.
"The Indian Army has not let Yasin take his medicines or eat food for one and a half months now. He has not had a drop of water to drink since the last six days," she said. She said that her husband had developed a stone in his kidney adding that the metal valve inside his heart is also not working properly.
Mishal said that no one was being allowed to meet her husband. "The Indian Army wants the Hurriyat leadership to die a little every day." She appealed international human rights organisations to focus on occupied Kashmir. "The Kashmiris do not have any weapons. It is only their spirit for freedom which keeps them going," she said. She said that India had wronged the Kashmiris for decades now. "After Burhan Wani's death the freedom movement has begun with renewed vigour." JKLF leader Yasin Malik has been in Indian custody for over a month.
