The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Hina Pervez Butt has moved a resolution in the provincial assembly of the Punjab seeking a ban on Indian movies and dramas on cinema houses and TV channels. The resolution, which was submitted in the Assembly Secretariat on Monday, says that Indian movies and dramas are leaving negative impact on people here in the country, hence, the government of Pakistan should impose a ban on Indian movies and dramas on cinema houses and TV channels.
It may be noted that the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) has reportedly put a ban on Pakistani actors, singers and technicians from working in India till normalcy returns between the two countries. Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) too banned the broadcast of all Indian television channels in Pakistan warning action if TV channels and distribution networks failed to implement the ban after October 15.
