For the first time, the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), has constituted a new standing committee of Direct Selling for the promotion and protection of this business in Pakistan. Shaikh Rashid Alam has been appointed as the first Chairman of this newly formed Standing Committee by the President FPCCI.
Alam is also having the Permanent Observer Status at WIPO, (the specialised agency of United Nations). He is the subject specialist and has vast experience and knowledge in the field of Direct Selling industry in Pakistan. President Direct Selling Association of Pakistan, Anis Ahmed Merchant and many other organisations from the trade industry extended their gratitude to Alam on his appointment as the first chairman of this newly formed FPCCI Standing Committee.
While speaking after the nomination, Alam said that the establishment of this committee is a clear evidence of the fact that FPCCI being the apex trade truly understand the present and forthcoming business and economy challenges related to the local and international market niche.
He said that Direst Selling Business is a rapidly growing industry, globally. "Through the apex trade body platform, we aim to bring together all local, national and international companies working in the business domain of Direct Selling Industry to stand together for designing the legal framework and strengthening the business operations of Direct Selling in Pakistan", he added. He added that the standing committee will aim to promote, facilitate and provide legal protection to direct selling organisations and their members at all levels. He further emphasised that the said standing committee will ensure to protect consumers from all sorts of fraudulent businesses practices.
