The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has witnessed 16 percent growth in its revenue collection during the first quarter of current fiscal year. According to official statistics, the SRB collected Rs 17.2 billion on account of Sindh Sales Tax (SST) from July 2016 to September 2016, depicting 16 per cent growth as compared to the revenue of Rs 14.8 billion collected during last corresponding period, despite the reduction of one per cent in the standard rate of the tax from 14 per cent in 2015-16 to 13 per cent in 2016-17.
The SRB is expecting to achieve the target of Rs 78 billion as assigned for 2016-17, despite the aforesaid reduction in the rate. The SRB acknowledges that its aforesaid revenue collection performance was due to the continued trust, cooperation and confidence of its taxpayers, the continued support and assistance by the government of Sindh and the relentless efforts, devotion and deduction of its employees.
