9th, 10th Muharram processions: KP IGP inspects security arrangements in Kohat, Hangu

KP Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani visited the sensitive districts of Kohat and Hangu on Monday ahead of Ashura and presided over the Aman Jirga of elders from Shia and Sunni sects and inspected the security arrangements of police.
Owing to their contiguity to the tribal belt and having a history of sectarian differences, these two districts of Kohat Division have been declared most sensitive with regards to Muharram in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. During his visit of Kohat, the IGP visited the District Police Command Post established in the walled city and inspected the route for 9th and 10th Muharram processions. RPO Kohat briefed the IGP on arrangements of police, administration and other lines departments in Kohat.
The police chief was given live demonstration on the working of CCTV and quad-copter cameras employed by Kohat police for security of processions. The IGP KP while expressing his satisfaction over the arrangements made by police and administration urged the police officers to remain vigilant during the remaining days of Muharram.
The IGP also visited the main bazaar of Kohat city and interacted with the traders and citizens. The traders and citizens while appreciating the efforts of Kohat police for maintaining law and order and security during Muharram stated that they stand with the police force and will thwart the nefarious designs of militants in collaboration with KP police.The IGP urged the citizens to keep a close watch on suspicious elements in their neighbourhoods and to inform the police promptly in case they witness any alarming or suspicious thing. The IGP also enquired the citizens about their issues if any with the police and issued directions to the field officers on the spot for redressal of public issues.
