National Assembly Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges has expressed displeasure over increasing trend of human organs transplantation in Pakistan and directed the Ministry concerned to provide details of such cases dealt by Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.
A meeting of the committee was held under the chairmanship of Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry at the Parliament House on Thursday. Committee Chairman Junaid Anwar Chaudhry and the other members of the committee directed the Chairman Human Rights Commission to give a detailed report on performance of the Commission.
The committee pended the question of privilege raised by Dr Shazia Sobia, MNA over former Justice Ali Nawaz Chuhan, Chairman National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), not attending of the meeting of the Standing Committee on Human Rights on 29th & 30th August, 2016 in Lahore despite the fact that he had committed to attend the said meetings. The committee also expressed its displeasure against one of the officers of NHRC who came in the meeting without invitation.
The committee also unanimously approved the amendments in Rule 169 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007 moved by S.A Iqbal Qadri, MNA. On the question of privilege raised by Syed Imran Ahmad Shah, MNA over non-obtaining of Hajj visa by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony for the members, the committee directed the Ministry to provide the relevant record pertaining to Hajj of this year. The committee also decided to invite the Federal Minister and Minister of State on Religious Affairs in its next meeting.
On the question of privilege raised by Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla, MNA regarding alleged misbehaviour of Nuzhat, an Air Hostess of PIA in Air Bus PK-734, on 16th August, 2016 with the member while he was travelling from Paris to Lahore, the committee expressed its displeasure about the wrong reply submitted by the PIA and pended the issue till its next meeting with the direction that strict action would be taken against those who have submitted such reply before the committee.
The committee unanimously disposed of the question of privilege raised by Muhammad Salman Khan Baloch, MNA over misbehaviour of Arbab Anas, Manager (HR), Karachi Port Trust (KPT) with the Member and non-attendance of his telephone calls by Chairman, KPT, subject to submission of written apology by the Ministry. The committee also pended the Question of Privilege of Mian Imtiaz Ahmed, MNA regarding usage of abusive language by Jameel Ahmed, ADCG, Administrator Baldia, Rahim Yar Khan with the Member.
The committee also adopted the report of the Sub-Committee regarding two questions of privilege against Sindh Police, moved by Syed Ayaz Ali Shah Shirazi, MNA. The meeting was attended by Chaudhry Khadim Hussain, Rana Umer Nazir Khan, Azhar Qayyum Nahra, Abdul Majid Khan Khanan Khail, Sheikh Muhammad Akram, Mumtaz Ahmed Tarar, Kiran Haider, Maiza Hameed, Nawab Muhammad Yousuf Talpur, Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Shagufta Jumani, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, S.A Iqbal Quadri, Muhammad Ali Rashid and Asiya Nasir, MNAs/Members.
The meeting was also attended by Muhammad Salman Khan Baloch, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, Dr Shazia Sobia, Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla, MNAs/Movers. The meeting was also attended by Babar Nawaz Khan, MNA/Chairman Standing Committee on Human Rights as a special invitee.
