Likewise other parts of the country, Youm-e-Ashur was observed peacefully amid tight security arrangements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. As many as 12 Zuljinah processions of 10th Muharram was taken out inside the city to pay rich glowing tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and Shuhada-e-Karbala.
All routes leading to mourning processions had completely sealed off by erecting hurdles, barbs wires, and concrete blocks. Thousands of mourners along with children and women participated in processions and Majalis. Sabeels of water, milk and Nayaz were set up by local organisers at different points for mourners, while a special mobile medical team from Peshawar Hospital, DHQ Hospitals and Rescue 1122 provided treatment to the mourners.
The mourning processions were also monitored by air surveillance. The control rooms have been set up for strict monitoring through CCTV cameras. Body search was being carried out to those people who were entering the processions, whereas walks through gates also installed at various entry points, and main entrance of Imambargahs.
According to police source, for maintaining law and order the KP government had deployed 36,000 policemen across the province for peaceful observance of Ashur. The main Zuljinah processions held from Imambargah Alam Shah and Mirza Qasim Baig in the city on Wednesday. Various Taazia and Zuljinnah processions were brought out in the City. The main procession was taken out from Imambagah Kocha Agha Syed Ali Shah which was joined by Azadars of other Imambargahs including Imambargah Akhwand Abad, Imambargah Alamdare Karbala, Imambargah Syed Alam Shah Jafri, Imambargah Haji Rehman Malik, Imambargah Pura Wali Badshah, Imambargah Sain Suhrab, Imambargah Hussainia, Imambargah Mirza Qasim Isfihani, Imambargah Hussain Abad, Imambargah Syed Mir Haider Shah and Imambargah Mir Fazal Ali Shah Rizvi.
