The Karachi Port handled 152,097 tonnes of cargo comprising 111,420 tonnes of import cargo and 40,677 tonnes of export cargo including 5,976 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday The total import cargo of 111,420 tonnes comprised of 40,711 tonnes of containerised cargo; 33,041 tonnes of general cargo; 27,268 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 14,692 tonnes of coal; 12,576 tonnes of DAP and 10,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 40,677 tonnes comprised of 23,967 tonnes of containerised cargo; 210 tonnes of general cargo and 16,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,976 containers comprising of 3,215 containers import and 2,761 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 986 of 20's and 1,055 of 40's loaded while 13 of 20's and 53 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 580 of 20's and 318 of 40's loaded containers while 271 of 20's and 637 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Kota Lahir, Kota Naluri, Cape Marin, aframax Riviera and Ikan Sembak carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Cosco Wellington, Kota Lembah, Alice, Delia-1 and Thai Binh Bay carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Jin Hong carrying general cargo sailed out to sea on Friday while two ships namely Kota Lembah and Alice carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Saturday. There are six vessels viz. APL Japan, A Idefix, DL Clover, MT Shalamar, Inaba and Hercules carrying containers, oil tankers, and steel respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 79,670 tonnes includes 6,093 tonnes of diesel oil; 16,500 tonnes of palm oil; 270 tonnes of chemicals; 4,300 tonnes of LPG; 32,500 tonnes of LNG and 20,007 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 53,404 tonnes includes 8,925 tonnes of cement and 44,479 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,394 containers comprising of 1,053 containers import and 2,341 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were three ships namely CV Maipo, CV Maersk Salina and MT Methane Rita Andrea carrying containers and LNG sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely MT White Purl carrying LPG is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Maipo, CV Maersk Salina, MV Sea Merchant, MT Bunga Angelica, MT M Gas, MT White Purl, MT Methane Rita Andrea and MT Swarna Kaveri currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, palm oil, LPG, LNG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV CMA CGM Tosca, MV Patricia-IV, MV BBC Greenland, MV CTG Argan, MT Gas Marathon, MT Constantion, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Bneider, MT Seleine, MT Karachi, MT Lion-M and MT Feng Hai-II carrying containers, sunflower seeds, project cargo, chemical, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday.
There were five vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Tosca, CV Maersk Innoshima, MV BBC Greenland, MV CTG Argan and MT Gas Marathon carrying containers, project cargo, chemical and LPG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were five ships namely CV Maersk Innoshima, MV Carboo, MT Marthan, MT Al-Noman and MT Pavini Spirit carrying containers, fertilizer, LPG, LNG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are three ships namely CV Hermes, MV Therco Auror and MV Bochem Ghem carrying containers, project cargo and phosphoric acid respectively due to arrive on Saturday. There are three ships namely CV MSC Busan and CV HS Wagner carrying containers due to arrive on Sunday.
