The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Monday claimed to have killed six terrorists involved in the abduction of Shahbaz Taseer, son of former slain governor of Punjab Salman Taseer. According to the CTD spokesman, the Sheikhupura CTD team got an information that 9/10 terrorists belonging to the Proscribed Organisation (Tehreek Taliban Pakistan) were moving on Bypass Sheikhupura and going to attack on an office of law enforcement agency.
The CTD team which received information between the night of Saturday and Sunday chased them on which they left Bypass and took a branch road. They were using a car and two motorcycles. "The CTD team ordered them to surrender but they opened firing at the CTD police party," the spokesman said, adding when the firing stopped, six terrorists were found dead, killed by their accomplices, while others managed to escape on motorcycles taking benefit of darkness.
The police party recovered three Kalashnikov rifles, three pistols, 2kg explosives, prima cords, bullets and other things from their possession. Those who have been identified include Haji Muhammad s/o Ali Muhammad, Sajid Khan s/o Sharbat Khan and Riaz Hussain s/o Sharbat Khan Koki khail Jamrod, FATA. He said further investigation has been launched.
