The industry circles have criticised the Ministry of Water and Power for carrying out 60 hours load shedding on independent feeders during Ashura, saying that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should take the responsible to the task. It may be noted that Lahore Electric Supply Company had suspended power supply to the industrial sector from midday of 8th of Muharram until the midnight of 10th of Muharram which irked the industrial circles by and large.
They said the ministry had instructed the distribution companies to cut power supplies to the independent feeders in order to provided uninterrupted power supply to the domestic consumers. They urged the PM to take notice of short sightedness of the ministry for causing millions of dollars production loss to the industries. They further pointed out that the distribution companies kept on supplying electricity to the labour colonies on the mills premises while denying supply to the production units. Feasibility of many of the industrial units has been prepared on the basis of 24/7 operation, they added.
