President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Majid Raza Bhutta said that business community has rejected the proposed 36 percent increase in Sui gas price. Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, he appealed to the prime minister to take immediate steps for the withdrawal of proposed increase in Sui gas price for the larger interest of export sector of the country.
The proposed increase is detrimental for export the country because cost production will be increased to manifold, he said. The SCCI President said that export of the country already on down trend and were confronting with certain crises and increase in Sui gas price will further add woes to the export sector of the country, he maintained. The SCCI President further said the government should announce business friendly polices to facilitate the business community as well as to enhance exports. Majid said that we could not attain benefits of the GSP Plus due to ineffective export polices of the government.
Under the prevailing circumstances the proposed increase in Sui gas price should be withdrawn to facilitate the exporters and general public. Expressing the hope, he said the prime minister would surely take speedy action for resolving the issue of increase in Sui gas price to facilitate the business community and the common man.
