Deputy Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Saeed Ahmed has said that mobile commerce has become a driving force in banking sector and is progressing with the passage of each day. He was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural session of Second Annual Mobile Commerce, e-Banking Summit & Exhibition organized by The Professional Network (TPN) in collaboration with Institute of Business Management (IBM), here on Thursday.
He appreciated the event organiser TPN and emphasised that such events are very effective for promotion of business activities and bringing all stakeholders at single platform. Addressing to participants and later talking to media, Ahmed rejected news report about shifting of State Bank offices from Karachi to Lahore, saying that no office was being shifted to any other city. "Just few services are decided to be shifted to improve the operation," he added.
Deputy Governor SBP said that future of Islamic banking in Pakistan was very bright which was also accepted in the West. Member Finance, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Tariq Salman, said that use of mobile technology in banking sector was increasing tremendously which is a good sign.
