Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar on Thursday reviewed arrangements for international events planned for the next week including 15th Ministerial Conference of Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) and visits of senior officials of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The officials of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs Division briefed the Finance Minister who chaired the meeting in this regard on the overall arrangements for the CAREC Conference and visits of Managing Director, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Ms Christine Laragrde and President Takehiko Nakao, Asian Development Bank in a befitting manner.
The Finance Minister said the CAREC conference would provide member countries an important opportunity to further collaborate in areas of mutual interest to improve regional cooperation. The delegations from CAREC states including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Georgia would participate in the CAREC Ministerial conference.
Senator Ishaq Dar said the high profile visits as well as CAREC conference was the proof of the confidence of the international development partners in the strength of Pakistan's economy. He said the government was committed to ensure that the growth rate was sustainable as well as inclusive and that Pakistan became a destination of choice for international investors. He directed that the relevant ministries and departments should co-ordinate closely to ensure success of the planned international events.
