Appointments in IHC: review petition filed in Supreme Court

A review petition was filed in Supreme Court on Tuesday against its decision in response to illegal appointments in Islamabad High Court (IHC). Announcing its verdict in the matter, the Supreme Court had issued directives to the IHC to de-notify all the appointments, deputations, absorptions and reappointments amid initiating procedure for fresh recruitments through the National Testing Service (NTS) preferably within 45 days.
A total of 19 employees of the IHC sough review of the apex court September 26 decision which had declared 73 appointments in the High Court illegal. The IHC employees who requested the apex court to review the decision includes one of the younger brother of sitting Chief Justice of the IHC Muhammad Anwar Kasi. On behalf of the petitioners, Syed Iftikhar Gillani filed the civil review petition under Article 188 of the Constitution read with order XXXVI of the Supreme Court Rules 1980.
