Finance panel for adoption of statistics bill by NA

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance Wednesday recommended that "The General Statistics (Reorganization) (Amendment) Bill, 2016" may be passed by the National Assembly. The 42nd meeting of the Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization of the National Assembly was held here on Wednesday at the parliament house under the chairmanship of Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh, MNA.
During the committee proceedings, the committee unanimously recommended that "The General Statistics (Reorganization) (Amendment) Bill, 2016" moved by Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, MNA may be passed by the National Assembly. The General Statistics (Reorganization) (Amendment) Bill, 2016 seeks to give provinces presentation in Governing Council of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics and to make census of population and housing conditions compulsory after every ten years.
The Committee discussed the matter regarding 30 percent regulatory duty on import of Prime Quality Steel Wire Rod, imported under H.S. Code 7213-9190 and 7227-9000. The Committee directed the Chairman, FBR to arrange a meeting with stakeholders and resolve the issue under intimation to this committee. Chairman, FBR ensured the Committee for resolving the matter.
The committee considered the matter regarding differential of income tax between commercial importers and industrial importers and once again strongly recommended and directed to FBR for implementation on the recommendations of the Committee for the betterment of business community.
Saeed Ahmed Khan Manais, Sheikh Fayyaz-ud-Din, Mian Abdul Mannan, Ms Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Ms Leila Khan, Dr Nafisa Shah, Mr Abdul Rashid Godil, Mr Muhammad Ali Rashid and Mr Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, MNAs were present in the meeting, besides the senior officers from Ministry of Finance & Revenue, FBR, SECP and SBP.
