Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Shamail Ahmed Khawaja held a video link conference to review the progress of the cases referred by the Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab to the administration and Police high-up's of Lahore division at civil Secretariat here on Wednesday.
Speaking on this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary said that district administration and Police officials should pay special attention to expedite the resolution process of the grievances of Overseas Pakistanis. He said that Overseas Pakistanis are playing a vital role to enhance the soft image of the country, and are strengthening the national economy by sending remittances to Pakistan. He instructed the administration to evolve out of the box solutions of the issues of the Overseas Pakistanis, instead of adopting traditional methods, by taking both the parties into confidence.
Commissioner OPC Afzaal Bhatti said that 90% complaints of the Overseas Pakistanis are about illegal occupations of their properties even by their close relatives. He said that administration should fully work according to the law and ensure speedy justice.
Commissioner OPC further said that Government has great respect for all those who are augmenting the national economy through their hard work. Chief Minister Punjab has constituted the OPC for timely resolution of the problems faced by the Overseas Pakistanis pertaining to the Government agencies in the Punjab.
ACS Shamail Khawaja informed the participants that, so far, OPC has referred 900 cases of Overseas Pakistanis to the administration of provincial metropolis; out of which, 450 cases have already been settled. Director General OPC Muhammad Hassan Iqbal, Additional DG/DIG Ahmed Mubeen and Director Revenue Ishrat Ullah Niazi attended the meeting, while civil and Police administration of Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib Districts participated through video link.
