In an effort to eradicate bullying completely from the site, Instagram has taken a step forward to use artificially intelligent technology to detect bullying from within pictures posted on the platform.

Instagram announced in its blog post yesterday about its latest tools in order to fight cyber-bulling and a way to identify and report bulling in photos. Also, with the help of a new camera effect, Instagram is aiming to help spread kindness in Stories.

Instagram informed that they are using AI technology to detect bullying in pictures and their captions and send them to their Community Operations team for reviewing. As per the site, apart from significantly help identifying and removing bullying, ‘it’s a crucial next step since many people who experience or observe bullying don’t report it’.

Instagram rolls out Snapchat-like feature to help users add friends

Protecting more teenagers and younger communities, the new tech has already begun rolling out and will continue to in the coming weeks. Also, bullying comment filter that was previously available for Feed, Explore and Profile, will now be added to filter comments on live videos to ensure they remain safe and fun. This feature is globally available for all live videos now.

Moreover, Instagram is launching the ‘Kindness Camera Effect’ in partnership with Maddie Ziegler, best known as the child dancer version of singer Sia. This effect will shower the image with hearts in selfie mode and positive comments in various languages in rear mode while prompting the user to tag a friend they care about. The effect will be automatically available in the user’s camera effects tray if they follow Ziegler, or if they see a friend use it, they can tap ‘try it’ and it to their camera.
