Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 161,821 tonnes of cargo comprising 137,078 tonnes of import cargo and 24,743 tonnes of export cargo including 5,817 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 137,078 tonnes comprised of 30,556 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,368 tonnes of general cargo; 34,634 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 27,073 tonnes of coal; 861 tonnes of seeds; 1,471 tonnes of soyabean meal; 5,229 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 53,520 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,743 tonnes comprised of 17,716 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,677 tonnes of talcum powder and 3,350 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,817 containers comprising of 2,828 containers import and 2,989 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,199 of 20's and 697 of 40's loaded while 15 of 20's and 110 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,115 of 20's and 554 of 40's loaded containers while 52 of 20's and 357 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Cosco Sao Paulo, Hyundai Bangkok, KMTC Dubai, Tromso, Orient Pine, Oriental Nadeshiko and Bofors carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Tulip, MT Lahore, Orient Pine, Carpe Diem-II, Bunga Lucerne and HTC Alfa carrying oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely Taroko, MT Lahore, Western Santos and HTC Alfa carrying containers, oil tanker, seeds and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday while two ships namely Carpe Diem-II and Bunga Lucerne carrying oil tanker and chemical respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were three vessels viz. MOL Explorer, Glovis Cosmos and Africa Glory carrying containers, units and iron powder respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while seven vessels viz. Hyundai Tacoma, Osaka Tower, Alexandria Bridge, Tiger Harmony, Aditya, Marine Star and Nord Missouri carrying containers, chemical and coal respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 128,443 tonnes includes 44,390 tonnes of furnace oil; 1,700 tonnes of LPG; palm oil; 10,154 tonnes of canola seeds; 10,725 tonnes of chemical; 1,985 tonnes of project cargo and 59,489 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 36,626 tonnes includes 8,468 tonnes of cement and 28,158 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,613 containers comprising of 3,131 containers import and 1,482 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely CV Northern Monument carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three ships namely MV Beach Galaxy, MT Mar-III and MT Brizo carrying chemical, LPG and furnace oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Northern Monument, CV CMA CGM Thames, MV Bos Anggel, MV African Glory, MV Bonanza YR, MT Mara-III, MT Brizo and MT Beach Galaxy currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, project cargo, canola seeds, chemical, LPG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely MV Diamond Sea, MV Hoanya Wisdom, MT New Confidence, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Bneider, MT Ibn Sine, MT Bahra, MT New Naxos and MT Genie carrying cement, rice, diesel oil and furnace oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Tuesday.
There were four vessels viz. MV Atlantic Glory, MV Al-Mahboobah, MT Gas Esco and MT Bneider carrying chemical, LPG and diesel oil expected to take berths at Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There were eight ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Newark, MV Zi Jing Song, MV Atlantic Glory, MV Al-Mahboobah, MT Gas Esco, MT Shalamar and MT Brizo carrying containers, project cargo, LPG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
There are three ships namely CV San Francisco, CV Mehun and CV Hansa America carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
