Foggy weather in plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to prevail in November and December 2016, the Met Office said. Less snow is likely to fall on the mountainous areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during two months, the Met said in its weather outlook for November-December 2016.
In line with the analysis of global and regional atmospheric and oceanic circulation, high pressure anomaly over Central Asia is likely to persist, which is likely to push the western disturbances (rain bearing systems) to pass across north of Pakistan, it said.
"Other external forcing such as El Nino Southern Oscillations (ENSO), North Atlantic Oscillations (NAO) and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) are predicted to persist in their neutral phase during the months of November and December this year. The aggregate impact of climate forcing on Pakistan weather pattern will be negative," it said. It said that fewer western disturbances would reach Pakistan geographic limits effectively.
