Sindh Excise and Taxation (E&T) department on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two persons and recovered substantial quantity of liquor bottles from their possession. According to details, Sindh Excise and Taxation department on the directives of Sindh High Court (SHC) had taken stern measures to ensure complete ban on sale and purchase of liquor.
They said that credible information was received that some bootleggers were planning to smuggle substantial quantity of liquor in the city via Northern Bypass. Reacting on the information, the team of Sindh Excise and Taxation department under the supervision of ETO Malir mounted strict vigilance and intercepted a jeep no GS-4979 at Northern Bypass road during snap checking. During examination, the team has recovered some 60 bottles of beer and 48 bottles of whisky that led the arrests of two accused Siddique and Subash. E&T officials said that the accused were transporting liquor to Karachi from Hub Balochistan. Consequent upon recovery, a case has been registered against accused persons. Further investigation was under way.
