Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) will fully cooperate with Pakistani Think Tank 'Golden Ring Economic Forum' in the preparation of Structural Economic Policy Framework (SEPF) specifically in view of CPEC and emerging economic block comprising of Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Russia and China, said Engineer Ahmed Hassan Vice President FCCI.
In a meeting with Hasnain Reza Mirza president and Shahid Hussain Sheikh of 'Golden Ring Economic Forum', Engineer Ahmed Hassan said that CPEC has increase geopolitical and economic importance of Pakistan manifold. But unluckily we are not fully prepared to exploit its maximum potential as no proper policy has yet been finalized to give a quantum jump to the Pakistan economy. He claimed that FCCI is the first chamber in Pakistan that has established first CPEC cell to critically analyze its pros and cons and suggest necessary remedial measures to effectively deal with the emerging challenges. However collective efforts from all chambers, government and policy makers are must at the regional level to get structural and sustained benefits from this mega project.
Engineer Ahmed Hassan said that textile is the economic strength of Pakistan while Faisalabad is the hub of textile related activities. He said that FCCI will play a leading role in the formulation of structural economic policies frame work with special focused on the textiles. Similarly the other chambers could also contribute according to their own economic strength and suggest to the 'Golden Ring' the measure necessary to protect their fundamentals interest of their specific sector.
Earlier Hasnain Raza Mirza president Golden Ring Economic Forum presented a documentary on the emerging economic block comprising of Pakistani, China Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey and Russia. He told that this block has 20 percent world resources and their collective efforts could make this block focal point of future economic development. He termed CPEC as a blessing for the Pakistan, adding that the regional countries of this proposed economic block should share their resources for the collective benefits of this region. He said that in this connection we need proper, well considered and futuristic policies. These policies should be finalized in consultation with the stakeholders and any attempt to enforce such policies from top bureaucracy should be discouraged. He said that we must prefer joint ventures with Chinese investors with proper value addition in existing sick industry. Moreover such industries should be preferred in which local raw material could be used. Similarly we should demand proportionate share of Pakistani and Chinese workers in new industrial units proposed to be set up under CPEC related projects. He also indicated that food and water challenge are looming large and we must pool our energy to effectively face these issues. Later Ahmed thanked the visiting office bearers of the Golden Ring Economic Forum.
