Prices of kitchen items decline slightly

Prices of vegetable and other important kitchen items have slightly decreased in retail market, according to a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday. Five-kilogram onions are being sold at Rs 100 as compared to Rs 120 during preceding week while a slight rise was witnessed in the price of tomato being sold at Rs 200 hiking from Rs 160 per kilogram last week, the survey noticed.
Ginger remains available at Rs 100 per kilogram, while rate of garlic are still costlier ie Rs 240 to Rs 260 per kilogram. One-kilogram potato is being sold at Rs 40 and arvi at Rs 50 per kilogram.
Price of one-kilogram peas remains sky-high in retail market with Rs 250, while ladyfinger is priced at Rs 80 per kilogram. Cucumber is being sold at Rs 40 as compared to Rs 60 per kilogram during preceding week.
Likewise, another quality of turnip and ladyfinger are being sold at Rs 70 per kilogram. Cauliflower remains available at Rs 40 per kilogram, while one-kilogram lemon is priced at Rs 80 in retail market.
The survey witnessed that the prices of pulses remained high- as no significant change or decrease was recorded as compared to last week. One-kilogram Dal Chana is available at Rs 160 in retail market, while big white kabali chana being sold at Rs 170 per kilogram. Likewise, it was noticed that high-quality Dal masoor is priced at Rs 140 per kg. Price of Dal mash is also costlier with Rs 220 per kilogram in retail market.
According to the survey, good quality rice remains available at Rs 110 per kilogram while relatively low quality rice is priced at Rs 90 and Rs 100 in retail market. Price of gram flour (baisen) has risen sharply, as being sold at Rs 160 per kilogram in retail market, against Rs 140 per kg a few days back. Dal chilka green at Rs 118, red bean being sold at Rs 100 to Rs 110 per kg, while lobiya is available at Rs140 per kg, and totta rice, is being sold at Rs 53 per kg.
The survey witnessed already soared prices of cooking oil/ghee with different quality remain unchanged.
Prices of fresh milk also remains high as vendors and shopkeepers continued to fleece the buyers by selling fresh milk at Rs 100 to Rs 120 per litre against the fixed official price of Rs 70 to Rs 80 per litre.
Hike in the fruit prices also witnessed in retail market. Grapes are being sold at Rs 100 and Rs 120 per kilogram, pomegranate of two qualities are available at Rs 100 and Rs 150, respectively, banana at Rs 60 and 70 per dozen, mango at Rs 120 and Rs 150 per kilogram, guava at Rs 150 per kilogram.
Prices of chicken meat are stable in retail market, while a dozen of egg is being sold at Rs 120 in retail and Rs 100 in wholesale. According to the survey.
