Former President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the passing away of ex-Secretary General of Pakistan People's Party Senator Jehangir Badr in the wee hours of Monday in Lahore. As a genuine political worker, a committed democrat and a great Bhutto loyalist Jehanigr Badr was a huge asset of the Party whose death will be widely mourned by all democratic political workers, he said in a message on the occasion adding "the void created by his passing away will take a long time to fill".
Zardari said that the courage and conviction with which Jehangir Badr fought numerous political battles during a political career spanning over four decades will serve as an inspiration to political workers anywhere and at any time.
Late Jehangir Badr was awarded PhD for his work on the political philosophy and struggle of Benazir Bhutto. He thus had the unique distinction of earning PhD even while serving as Senator, the former President said adding "such was his love for the Bhuttos".
Jehangir Badr always took pride for having worked closely with three generations of Bhuttos from Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to Benazir Bhutto and then with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, he said. Working so closely and with such unswerving fidelity and loyalty with three successive generations of Bhuttos is a distinction that few in the Party can match, Zardari said.-PR
