Karachi-based political leader Nabeel Gabol has said that former president Pervez Musharraf would re-unite Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) under his leadership. In an interview, Gabol said, "Senior MQM leader Farooq Sattar had rescued his party when it struck a dilemma on August 22 following MQM founder Altaf Hussain's speech."
He claimed that Pakistan Muslim League-N was still supporting Altaf Hussain and even senior PML-N leader Pervez Rasheed reportedly met him in London after the August 22 incident. To a query, he said former governor Sindh Ishratul Ibad was removed from his seat by the federal government in a bid to demonstrate its influence in Sindh.
"The government wants to save Altaf Hussain, therefore evidences of money laundering case are not handed over to the UK government," he said. It should also be noted that graffiti inscribed overnight in support of Musharraf has appeared on walls of different areas of Karachi which are considered to be stronghold of MQM.
