It added that by developing new systems to provide better hygienic services including depuration, the operation vies to help 33 small municipalities across 19 governorates, contributing to the reduction of diseases transmitted through water.

The program is part of the five priorities of the Bank to ''improve living conditions of African populations'' through the promotion of welfare, hygiene, the environment and social and economic development for residents of the affected municipalities.

The project also vies to reach the objectives set for the 2016-2020 period for Tunisia and, more in general, development targets in the sector by contributing to the sustainability of systems to manage hygienic-sanitary operations through the capacity building of the Office National de l'Assainissement (Onas) and the cities.
