Chairman Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday strongly criticised Sindh High Court (SHC). In a message on Twitter, Bilawal said that judicial integrity was important for legitimacy and impartiality. He further said that justice must be done and seen to be done. Bilawal's remarks came a day after Sindh High Court directed the federal government to submit comments regarding the security of the PPP Chairman.
A 2-member bench headed by the Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah heard a petition filed by the counsel for the PPP Chairman. Bilawal, in his petition, requested the court to direct Sindh and federal governments to provide him security as he had threats to his life. The provincial government submitted its reply that Bilawal was being provided complete security. The court directed the federal government to submit comments on the matter in the next hearing.
The top Sindh court also sought assistance from the counsel for Pakistan People's Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in understanding which policy or law binds the provincial and federal governments to provide security to the head of a political party or others who face threats to their lives.
Hearing the petition Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah wondered how the PPP chairman was demanding security from the government of his own party. The court inquired the petitioner's counsel Akhtar Hussain, how it could issue an order for providing special security to individuals exclusively although the protection of life was a right of every citizen.
