Two people were killed due to fire in an oil tank filled with 1000 tonnes of fuel at the Keamari Oil Terminal on Saturday. Soon after the incident, eight fire engines of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) reached the scene and started efforts to extinguish the blaze.
Officials said that foam and chemical was used to extinguish the fire. The fire broke out at Pakistan State Oil depot, KPT fire chief said. The fire caused due to Methanol chemical and such fires are invisible to the human eye. Such fire at Gadani Ship breaking yard on November 01, had claimed 26 lives and 58 were injured when an oil tanker caught fire and it took four days to extinguish the deadly fire.
