Present era poses challenges of unprecedented kind: Khattak

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak on Saturday said that, "The present era poses daunting challenges of unprecedented kind and circumstances in every sphere of life that needs human endeavours to face them. "For this reason the present Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government was transforming the education dynamics while remaining focused on aims and objectives of our education system in accordance with the present day requirements," he said.
The CM was speaking as chief guest at Annual Parents Day and Prize Distribution Ceremony at Abbottabad Public School. The Provincial Cabinet members, Alhaj Qalander Khan Lodhi, Abdul Haq, MNA Dr Muhammad Azhar Jadoon, MPA and Chairman DDAC, Abbottabad, Sardar Muhammad Idrees, other notables, faculty members and large number of parents and students of the school attended the ceremony.
The Principal of the school Brigadier Javed Ahmed (retd) in his Annual Report highlighted performance, activities, achievements and future plans of the institution while the students presented impressive and colourful performances which were highly lauded by the audience and the chief guest.
The Chief Minister said that his government was reshaping the educational system in such manner that could enable the role of educational institutions to become focal in preparing the students to fight against the evils of society, particularly the extremist views and misconceptions of the religion. He added that all this would require enhancing the vision of the students beyond a narrow scope and they would be able to analyze various happenings objectively and play their role in the development and prosperity of the country. He also emphasized the teachers to play their vital to guide and expose their students to the realities of life in its true context and background without prejudice to anyone. He said that it is the job of today's teacher to transform the young souls into dynamic young men and useful citizens, with fully developed personalities.
Appreciating the fame that earned by the school Pervez Khattak said that performance of the institution clearly demonstrate that it has an excellent infrastructure and competent faculty which also shows that Abbottabad Public School is alive to its needs of sustaining the standards. He said that the number of Abbottonians undergoing training at PMA and other military academies, Medical and Engineering Colleges assign it the status of a nursery to all these Institutions.
"The students studying here are lucky and privileged ones who are blessed with an opportunity to be associated with an institution of such a high standard and repute." He further said that education teaches us tolerance, sympathy, good temper, love and kindness, and students must absorb this spirit and express it through their conduct and deeds.
He congratulated all those who have won medals, prizes and certificates of distinction and hoped pray that all of us, realizing our respective responsibilities, continue striving for the betterment of the country and try hard to live up to the excellence of the School motto "Character is destiny".
Referring to the demands presented by the Principal, the Chief Minister announced his approval for construction of Auditorium with facilities of gymnasium, squash court, indoor games and staff club, construction of two hostels, replacement of three buses, renovation of staff residencies, construction of new residences, reconstruction of swimming pool and one month bonus salary for the staff.
