Smuggling of foreign currencies and gold: MCC pays surprise visits to Faisalabad Airport

In order to eliminate smuggling of foreign currencies and gold, Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary, Collector of Customs, Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Faisalabad, paid surprise visits to Faisalabad International Airport and physically monitored the working of the customs staff posted at the airport.
Sources told Business Recorder that the Collector of Customs MCC Faisalabad has taken some policy measures in line with the enforcement plan of the government to control smuggling of foreign currencies as well as gold.
To implement the policy effectively, the staff posted at the airport has been transferred and new experienced and vigilant staff has been posted with clear directions to curb smuggling of currency and gold through international flights departing for and arriving from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Sharja and Dubai.
Moreover, Collector MCC, Faisalabad, directed the Deputy Collector Airport to devise a comprehensive plan covering all the aspects to curb any possible attempt of smuggling of currency and gold outside the country. The Additional Collector, MCC, Faisalabad has also been instructed to pay surprise visits to ensure that no malpractices take place at Faisalabad International Airport.
The Collector further stated that unscrupulous elements shall have to face strict action in case of any violation of law/government policy.
In compliance with the instructions issued by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Chairman FBR Nisar Muhammad, the MCC Faisalabad has taken several steps to control the smuggling of gold and currency through Faisalabad International Airport, they added.
