Business activity improved on the cotton market on Tuesday due to renewed buying, dealers said. Resulting, the official spot rate was inert at Rs 6250, dealers said. In Sindh, seed cotton prices were at Rs 2600-3300, they said that in Punjab, phutti rates were at Rs 2800 and Rs 3550, as per 40 kg, they added.
In the ready session, over 25,000 bales of cotton changed hands between Rs 5950 and Rs 6600, they said. According to the market sources, the spinners indulged in fresh buying to replenish their stock. Cotton analyst, Naseem Usman said that prices of quality lint may maintain stable in the near future.
Reuters adds: Cotton futures remained little changed on Monday in subdued trading activity, ahead of the monthly supply-demand report from the US Department of Agriculture later this week. The March cotton contract on ICE Futures US settled down 0.03 cent, or 0.04 percent, at 71.01 cents per lb. It traded within a range of 70.8 cents and 71.75 cents a lb.
