CJ parliamentary body discuss appointment of judges in superior courts

A delegation of parliamentary committee on judges appointment in the superior courts headed by Senator Raja M Zafar-ul-Haq, Chairman and including Senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, Senator Farooq Hamid Naek, Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi, Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk, MNA, Muhammad Arshad Khan Leghari, MNA, called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali in Supreme Court Islamabad here on Wednesday.
The meeting was also attended by the members of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan. Zahid Hamid, Federal Law Minister and Ashtar Ausaf Ali, Attorney General for Pakistan were also present on the occasion.
The meeting was held in a very friendly environment and they discussed the different aspects of appointment of the judges in the superior courts of Pakistan. The Parliamentary Committee members also praised the services rendered by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali for the cause of dispensation of justice and they also praised his services as Chairman Judicial Commission of Pakistan for appointment of Judges. They also said that Chief Justice of Pakistan has always played positive and effective role for the institution of judiciary, rule of law and supremacy of constitution in the country.
The members of the Committee also expressed confidence in the procedure adopted by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan while appointing Judges. They proposed that the interaction between the Judicial Commission of Pakistan and the Parliamentary Committee should be more effective in order to elevate the best persons to the Bench.
The Members of the Judicial Commission assured them of creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and due regard for the recommendation/opinion of the Parliamentary Committee.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan appreciated the efforts of the Law Minister in making the meeting possible. His lordship also reciprocated the sentiments and said that judiciary holds the elected Parliamentary Committee in high esteem. He lauded the role played by Parliamentary Committee in appointment of Judges. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks.-PR
