Kashf Foundation, one of Pakistan's leading microfinance institutions, has held a discussion on the pertinent issue of child sexual abuse & the role of the media in creating awareness. The discussion was opened with a conversation between Kashf Foundation's Founder and Managing Director, Roshaneh Zafar and TV/Film actor and social activist Ahsan Khan to explore the role of media in shaping social perceptions, and creating awareness regarding pressing social issues in Pakistan.
Kashf Foundation also celebrated its 20 years mark through an exclusive preview of its music video "Himmat Ka Safar", which features a special song sung by Tahira Syed and Zafar. The video depicts three inspiring stories of Kashf clients, and shows how access to micro loans has enabled these women embark on a journey of financial independence and courage.
Zafar said the song is the Foundation's way of recognising women all over Pakistan who are not only homemakers and wives and mothers, but also the custodians of their family's upkeep. Many of them work day and night to provide better lives for their families. This song is our tribute to these incredible women, she said.
Kashf Foundation's "Udaari Movement" aims at creating awareness regarding child sexual abuse and the rights of children, lowering economic disempowerment and the marginalisation of women and recognising the media's role in creating a healthy dialogue around importance social issues as agents of change. Sharing his views, Ahsan Khan said it is high time we as a society recognise that it is our civic duty to preserve the innocence of children by providing them a conducive environment where they grow into healthy adults.-PR
