Early childhood education programme starts in Punjab

The School Education Department (SED), UNICEF, Plan International and Directorate of Staff Development, have started 'early childhood education programme' in Punjab. As many as 2800 schools were converted into child-friendly schools through PC-I in Phase-I and now 2,200 more schools are being converted into child-friendly schools till March, 2017. This figure will reach 5,000 in March, 2017. Subsequently, 5,000 more schools will be converted into child-friendly schools till 2018 having ECE room and other facilities.
Minister for Education Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan expressed these views while addressing the closing ceremony of two weeks training of 72 ECE Master Trainers at Directorate of Staff Development.
Programme Director DSD Saeed Ramazan said the world has admitted the importance and need of early childhood education. Engineer Qamar Islam, Chairman of Punjab Education Foundation Rubina Nadeem, Education specialist of UNICEF Punjab, Imtiaz Alam, and Head of Plan International Education, were also present on this occasion.
