Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that protection of life and property of people and maintenance of law and order is top priority of the government, therefore, foolproof security arrangements should be made in the province for ensuring peace on Eid Milad-un-Nabi. Security of processions should be ensured in accordance with the plan evolved in this regard, he added.
Issuing directions to provincial cabinet committee on law & order from London Saturday, the Chief Minister said that law enforcement agencies should remain vigilant and perform their duties in a coordinated manner. He said that effective measures are needed for maintaining law and order in the present situation therefore, police and other concerned institutions should perform their duties efficiently and a watchful eye should be kept on anti-social elements.
He said Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions should be monitored through modern technology. Shahbaz Sharif said that senior police and administrative officers should remain present in the field to personally supervise security arrangements. He said that elected representatives should also review security arrangements in their respective areas. Provincial cabinet committee on law & order should closely monitor security arrangements on Eid Milad-un-Nabi, he added. He said that there is no room for negligence or laxity in connection with security measures and the security plan should be implemented in letter and spirit. The Chief Minister directed to take all out steps for maintaining law and order on Eid Milad-un-Nabi and law enforcement agencies should ensure effective implementation of the strategy evolved for this purpose.
