Kazi Afaq elected Old Ravians' president

The Government College University's (GCU) alumni have elected the new Executive Committee of the Old Ravians Union (ORU) for session 2016-2018 with Qazi Afaq Hossain, the member Federal Service Tribunal and former federal secretary, as the president.
The Ravians' United Panel led made Kazi Afaq Hossain made a clean sweep in the elections among the three groups by securing all the key positions including of General Secretary, Vice President and Treasurer.
The election committee, comprising former Sessions Judge Abdus Salam Khawar, Professor Dr Farhat Mehmood and union's Honorary Secretary Professor Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt, announced the results after the polling held on the university premises from 10am to 5pm on Sunday.
Kazi Afaq Hossain secured 437 votes, while his opponents Senior Advocate High Court Qazi Zargham-ul-Haq leading Ravians Club and businessman Muhammad Ashfaq Mohlan (Ravain's Saga) secured 209 and 350 votes respectively.
The seat of Vice President (Male) was won by Director General Protocol Punjab Asjad Ghani Tahir by securing 354 votes. Muhamamd Aslam Bhatti, Mian Muhammad Ahmad Chachaar and Ammanat Ali Ghalib also contesting for the post secured 313, 292 and 27 votes respectively. Dr Sheeba Alam elected Vice President (Female) with 598 votes while her only opponent Naghma Sairaa secured 354 votes.
A comparatively tough contest was witnessed on the seat of Treasurer which was won by Dr Salman Haider Qazi with 390 votes, while his opponent Hamyun Masood Khan and Mohsin Amin secured the 315 and 291 votes.
Rana Asad Ullah Khan elected General Secretary of the Union with 467 votes. Advcate Tayyab Hussain Rizvi and Altaf Qamar were also in the race for the post.
Anwar-ul-Haq, Farrukh Hayat, Usman Saeed and Dr Abdul Basit elected executive members of the union.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Hassan Amir Shah congratulated the new executive committee of the union, and hoped that they would actively participate in the progress and development of their alma mater.
Earlier, ORU outgoing President Kamran Lashari chaired the Annual General Body meeting of the Union which approved the ORU accounts for the year 2014-16. The General Body appreciated the valuable services of Kamran Lashari to make the Union more strong, dynamic and vibrant organisation.
