A full bench of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday dismissed the petition of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) seeking directions to make the Model Town incident's judicial inquiry a part of its private complaint pending before an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). The PAT through its petition sought trial of the prime minister, Punjab chief minister and others on charges of killing its workers.
PAT's counsel Rai Bashir Ahmad argued that the Punjab government with malafide intention restricted publication of the inquiry report held by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi. He said the report, if becomes part of the ATC proceedings in a private complaint, would strengthen the statements of witnesses who testified in private complaint of the PAT. He asked the bench to dismiss an order passed by the trial court and issue directions to make the inquiry report a necessary part of proceedings of the complaint.
