The government has decided to revise the Anti-Terrorism (Freezing & Seizure) Rules 2014 to streamline procedure for freezing or seizure of properties of proscribed organisations and proscribed persons. Sources told Business Recorder on Tuesday that the Ministry of Interior has circulated the draft of the Anti-Terrorism (Freezing & Seizure) Rules 2016 to relevant departments for comments.
Law and Justice Division had vetted the draft rules which need a number of corrections. The government intends to replace the Anti-Terrorism (Freezing & Seizure) Rules 2014 with Anti-Terrorism (Freezing & Seizure) Rules 2016, if finalised by end of December 2016.
The draft of the Anti-Terrorism (Freezing & Seizure) Rules 2016 has prescribed form-A (report on freeze or seizure of property of proscribed organisations and proscribed persons within the prescribed period of 48hours). The draft of the Anti-Terrorism (Freezing & Seizure) Rules 2016 has sought in detail about the nature and particulars of property frozen or seized and proscribed persons, sources added.
