Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said on Tuesday that Swedish companies should take benefits from the opportunities for having huge scope of investment in energy generation, telecommunication, oil exploration, trade and manufacturing sectors in Pakistan.
He expressed these views while speaking to the Swedish Ambassador Ingrid Johansson who called on him at the Parliament House. He said Pakistan is committed to fostering an enduring trade partnership with Sweden and considers it central to cement bilateral ties. He said Pakistan has enabled a conducive environment for the foreign investors and committed to engage within the region and beyond for finding lasting, peaceful and durable solution to conflicts and humanitarian issues.
He said the sustained parliamentary engagement between Pakistan and Sweden is essential for advancing the gains of democracy. He underlined the need for reinvigorating the role of parliamentary friendship groups to consolidate the parliamentary engagement between the two countries.
Discussing Kashmir issue, Sadiq said that using pellets gun on innocent Kashmiri people by Indian armed forces surmounts to breech of all local and international human rights doctrines. He called upon the United Nations and international community to play their due role to stop the repression, violence and human rights violations.
Sadiq said that Sweden is an important partner for Pakistan's broader outreach to Europe. He urged the need for deepening collaboration between the two nations in the spheres of education, cultural exchanges and science and technology. The speaker urged for further co-operation in strengthening parliamentary democracy in Pakistan.
He informed the dignitary regarding the new initiatives taken at the National Assembly to deliver to the hopes of the people. He urged the Swedish ambassador to facilitate Pakistani students determined to pursue higher studies in Sweden. Swedish Ambassador Ingrid Johansson reiterated that Pakistan is an important partner for promoting peace and lasting development in the region. He remarked that Sweden highly appreciates and acknowledges Pakistan's contribution to global efforts for fighting terrorism. He expressed his confidence in Pakistan's economic potential and added that Sweden is willing to tap Pakistan's economic opportunities.
Johansson said that parliamentary engagement between the two parliaments would fortify the existing amiable relations between the two countries. He also seconded Sadiq's proposal over promoting people-to-people contacts for better understanding of each other. Johansson further added that Sweden will continue to facilitating Pakistan in advancing the gains of democracy.
