PPP leaders say opposition again tabling privilege motion in NA today

16 Dec, 2016

Pakistan Peoples Party's leaders Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan and Syed Naveed Qamar said on Thursday night that the Opposition would again table the privilege motion in the National Assembly on Friday (today). Speaking at Aaj News talk show 'Faisla Aap Ka,' hosted by anchor Asma Shirazi, Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan said, the issue of privilege (on the Prime Minister's speech) was not under hearing at the Court of Law hence Speaker's Thursday ruling against the privilege motion was factually wrong.
Syed Naveed Qamar said that Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah will table the privilege motion again on Friday (today). He said that the government was apprised of it. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's spokesman Fawwad Chaudhry asked why Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was desisting from coming to the Parliament. "Why he is feeling ashamed? Prime Minister should clarify his position in the Parliament," he urged.
Uzma Bukhari of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz defended the Prime Minister saying that privilege motion was undue because the Court had not declared so far that Nawaz Sharif gave a wrong statement. She said that Prime Minister would speak politically in the Parliament and speak on legal aspects in the Court. PTI and PPP legislators are trying to table privilege motion because they accused Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of making wrong statement regarding his and his family's assets after their offshore companies were disclosed through Panama Papers leaks.
