Two dead in oil tanker explosion near Nooriabad

At least two people were killed and twelve others were burnt seriously when an oil tanker caught fire near Nooriabad on Saturday. The incident took place near a cement factory located on the Super Highway, where an explosion in an oil tanker also affected a nearby police vehicle, while another passing car also crashed in the rear of the police vehicle.
Reportedly the oil tanker contained 40,000 liters of petrol. A rescue effort is still underway to diffuse the fire, while the injured have been admitted in Civil Hospital Karachi. SSP Malir said that oil tanker overturned on the main highway, while a police vehicle was on duty managing traffic when the explosion occurred. However, it has been learned that local people were attempting to steal petrol from the oil tanker which suddenly caught fire.
