Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that if any political party was of the view that the Supreme Court should complete the accountability of the Prime Minister and his family as may result in the Premier's disqualification, the JI would endorse it but this did not mean that only a particular family be brought to accountability.
While addressing a breakfast meeting in the city on Sunday, he said that the JI had been demanding the accountability of all the corrupt elements, especially the 470 persons both from the ruling party, the opposition as well as other parties named in the Panama leaks.
The JI secretary general noted that Pakistan was at present burdened under 72 billion dollars loan whereas a colossal amount of 470 billion dollars owned by the Pakistani nationals were lying in banks abroad. He said if this amount was recovered, all the loans could be paid off and the burden of interest could also be cleared.
Liaqat Baloch, who also holds the office of Secretary General of the Milli Yakjehti Council, said the report of the Quetta tragedy enquiry commission had pointed out the weaknesses of the government and the apex committee and besides other issues; there was a reference to the Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
He recalled that a joint meeting of the leadership of the Defae Pakistan Council and the Milli Yakjehti Council had been held at which it was decided to approach the Interior Ministry in regard to the forced inclusion of the people in the fourth schedule , the forced disappearances of people and similar other issue. He said this meeting included representatives of all parties including the PML(Q)and the PTI. A joint delegation of these parties had called on the Interior Minister and apprised him of their problems and demands. He said that the decisions taken at that meeting were never implemented. However, he said, that the religious parties would not let the matter be closed on this ground and would not allow the facts to be misinterpreted as they would continue to play their role in protecting the mosques, madrissahs.
Continuing, Liaqat Baloch said that the CPEC was a project spread over a period of fifteen to twenty years and was to be completed by 21032. Therefore, he said, the people of the country should demonstrate full national unity and harmony.
