The 2nd All Pakistan DICE Health Innovation Exhibition 2016 began at Karachi Expo Centre on Friday. Ajmal Zaheer Khan, a Hollywood film director and artist, inaugurated the exhibition that is being organised by DICE Foundation, USA, and Dow University of Healthy Sciences (DUHS).
Vice chancellor of DUHS, Professor Masood Hameed Khan, Professor Rana Qamar Masood, chairperson of DICE Health Pakistan, artist Talat Hussain and a large number of people from different walks of life attended the inaugural ceremony. According to organisers, 25 universities from all over Pakistan are showcasing around 100 innovative projects at the exhibition. An art gallery is also set up where doctors and students are showcasing their projects.
The idea of this event is to motivate academia, industry, government, entrepreneurs and expatriates to showcase health innovations and technologies, share knowledge and collaborate on innovative ideas, which are necessary for social and economic development of Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Masood Hameed Khan said that Dow University is playing a very important role in health sector. During last 13 years, the university has produced thousands of doctors, nurses and other professionals who are now serving the nation. He said Dow University had set up its labs across the city. These labs are offering all services to the people at affordable fee. He pointed out that the total budget of the Dow University is Rs 6 billion, out of which only Rs 1.2 billion is being provided by the government while the university generate remaining amount through its own resources.
